We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team in Fungicide Resistance Research. As a key member of our lab team, you will play a crucial role in monitoring European P. infestans populations using next-generation sequencing methods.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze P. infestans populations to detect known and new nucleotide polymorphisms
  • Characterize selected mutants/EuroBlight-types with regard to pleiotropic effects
  • Generate in-vivo experimental data on the effect of Oomyceticides in plant-pathogen systems
  • Use Next Generation Sequencing and data science to understand relationships between P. infestans sub-populations and fungicide resistance evolution
  • Implement efficient gene editing protocols in genetic backgrounds of P. infestans
  • Possibly extend experience generated on P. infestans to other important plant pathogens
  • Pro-actively generate project-related ideas for experimental plans and equipment needed
  • Independent documentation, evaluation, presentation of experimental methods and data
