Transportation Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Assistant to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for providing support to Department of Defense (DOD) personnel regarding the shipment, receipt, and storage of personal property and household goods.

• Provide advice and information to military personnel, DOD civilian personnel, and their dependents regarding receipt of member's personal property.
• Compute proportionate costs to be borne by owner resulting from excess weight, distance, and/or storage.
• Issue DD Form 139 (Pay Adjustment Authorization) for collection of excess charges.
• Assist in the inspection of contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating, and unpacking.
• Identify and check to see that loading or unloading is done in a way to prevent damage and contract specifications are being followed.
• Document, report, and track agent/carrier performance clearly and accurately on a daily basis.
• Identify poor performance and notify higher graded personnel of needed action 100% of the time.
• Report repetitive violations, compile, and provide supporting documents and regulations for review and action.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in logistics and transportation. The ideal candidate will have:

• Office automation skills.
• A valid driver's license class B.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a military motor vehicle operator's license.
• English and German Language Proficiency Level C1.
