We are Smava GmbH, a leading online loan comparison platform. Our mission is to make loans transparent, fair, and affordable for our customers. With over 300,000 satisfied customers, we are one of the biggest FinTech companies in Germany.

Our Product & Tech teams are organized along the customer journey, each responsible for their corresponding part of our platform. We operate in a highly autonomous and self-managed way, with flat hierarchies and self-organized network structures. This empowers our teams to take ownership and share responsibility.

We are looking for a Head of Technology to join our Product & Tech department. The successful candidate will be responsible for execution delivery, system architecture, and stability of our platform. Our team of 60 multi-national colleagues is distributed across 10 cross-functional teams in Berlin, Hamburg, and Braunschweig.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teams with execution and delivery of high-quality features and improvements in line with agreed concepts and technical guidelines.
  • Conduct concept sparring and reviews with regard to approach and effort estimations.
  • Define and oversee the decision-making process on system architecture and technical roadmap.
  • Work closely with teams, POs, Product & Tech leads, and stakeholders from other departments to gain deep understanding of the platform, processes, and business needs.
  • Lead by example and explain the reasoning behind decisions in a collaborative manner.
Requirements
  • Hands-on, empathetic leader with experience heading tech teams and establishing excellent tech execution and delivery.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a startup-like company with flat hierarchies and network organizations.
  • Experience with React, NextJS, NodeJs, Typescript, Golang, cloud infrastructures, and containerized microservices in AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent English and German language skills, both written and spoken.
