The American Job Centers (AJC) at Dyersburg State Community College aim to empower customers to achieve self-sufficiency and sustainable employment through career advancement opportunities. We are partnering with the University of Memphis to implement the Growing Relational and Occupational Wealth in West TN Households (GROWWTH) grant's accelerated workforce readiness training program. As a GROWWTH Employment Specialist II, you will provide individualized case management services to assist customers in meeting their goals outlined in the GROWWTH Family Plan. Your services may include soft skills training, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, referrals to community resources, and career interest profiling.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a working knowledge of the GROWWTH program and services.
- Develop engagement with GROWWTH participants through regular contact to support their journey towards self-sufficiency and employment opportunities.
- Document all contacts with GROWWTH participants in CaseWorthy, adhering to required timeframes.
- Assist the Career Advisor in collecting necessary documentation for supportive services, milestone payments, or training services.
- Provide Career Advisors with copies of required documentation for milestone payments, supportive services, and training.
- Review participant goals in the Family Plan to ensure progress and address participant needs.
- Refer participants to partner agencies for wrap-around services to remove employment barriers and meet training and supportive service needs.
- Maintain knowledge of eligible training providers and short-term training programs within GROWWTH guidelines, and relay this information to participants.
- Manage a spreadsheet of required contacts.
- Assist with the Welcome Function as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This role involves sedentary work in a standard office setting.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Able to engage customers with multiple employment barriers.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete work timely with minimal errors.
- Ability to follow written instructions with minimal supervision.
$15.00 per hour
