PhD Researcher in Global Health

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Technical University of Munich. The successful candidate will be part of the EU-funded research project "Disentangling and Preventing Economic Violence against Women in India (ECOVI)".
About the ProjectThe ECOVI project aims to investigate the prevalence of economic violence against women in India, develop a theory of economic abuse, and design a community-based prevention approach. The project will employ a mixed-methods approach, including systematic reviews, qualitative interviews, and a cluster randomised controlled trial.
Your Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of the research protocol and data collection tools
- Support the conceptualisation and preparation of data collection instruments
- Assist in the development of an intervention curriculum for a community-based intervention
- Support the in-field training of data collectors and programme facilitators
- Run daily data quality checks and liaise with the field team
- Assist with data cleaning and analysis
- Work towards publishing three first-authored PhD papers using primary data collected as part of the ECOVI project
- Derive policy recommendations from the research and facilitate their dissemination in India and the region
- Master's degree in health sciences, development economics, sociology, psychology, or related fields
- Substantive interest in violence-related research
- Strong quantitative methods and statistics skills and proficiency with Stata or R
- Strong spoken and written English; fluency in Hindi desirable
- Experience with primary data collection, survey design, and experimental research methods desirable
- Prior work with grassroots organisations, NGOs, or development research organisations beneficial
- Strong intercultural skills and openness to travel and work in urban and rural areas of India
- We offer a PhD position (75%, 30h/week, pay grade E13 TV-L) with residence in Munich, Germany, and regular travel to India
- The position will be limited to three years
- Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L)
