**Job Description**

Your role in our team:

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will be part of our Airframe team within the Mechanical Engineering Department. Together, you will design state-of-the-art composite structures, plastics, and/or metal components of the Volocity that are key to its best-in-class performance.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct technical research and evaluate design concepts
  • Align on interfaces to other systems, including future updates
  • Perform detailed design of structural concepts according to requirements (e.g., lightweight, manufacturability, cost efficiency, maintainability)
  • Collaborate with relevant disciplines (e.g., Stress, Production, Procurement, Integration, etc.)
  • Create prototyping and design data
  • Evaluate prototypes and manufacturing data
  • Document all design decisions and descriptions
  • Specify the component design through CAD models, drawings, and instructions
  • Interact with suppliers and support with any manufacturing issues
  • Provide relevant documentation through the engineering gates (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
  • Ensure quality in our design, generate design assessments, and participate in root cause assessments
  • Improve existing structural components

**Qualifications:**

Technical skills:

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • At least 5+ years of experience in the aviation industry
  • Experience in the design of primary and secondary structures (composite/metallic) and understanding of their manufacturing processes
  • Proficient in mechanical engineering design and engineering drawing creation software (e.g., CAD, PLM), preferably using Siemens Teamcenter and NX
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) application
  • Knowledge of physical phenomena relevant to aircraft design with a focus on eVTOL vehicles
  • Experience working with aerospace standards as CS23/CS27/SC-VTOL/DO-160G
