Materials Researcher for Green Ammonia and Hydrogen

At Fraunhofer ISE, we are seeking a dedicated student to contribute to the development of green ammonia as a hydrogen carrier in the future energy system. As a Student Assistant, you will work on the thermochemical release of hydrogen, focusing on making it energy-efficient and economical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct practical tests with various metals in a corrosive ammonia-hydrogen atmosphere at different process temperatures.
- Improve corrosion stability through surface treatments and coatings with biomass-based carbons.
- Use state-of-the-art techniques such as microscopy, XPS, and EDX to determine differences and changes.
- Accompany experiments for the conversion of ammonia to hydrogen.
- Compile findings into a well-structured and thorough thesis and present results.
Requirements:
- Enrolled as a student in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in materials research.
- Basic knowledge in materials science and metallurgy.
- Prior experience in conducting experimental trials.
- Ability to work independently and goal-oriented.
- Good English skills, both written and spoken.
