About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our AI Team and contribute to the development of AI models and algorithms that will drive our customer support service to new heights.

As a Backend Developer at SumUp, you will be responsible for building and maintaining an infrastructure that will revolutionize how SumUp does support. You will ensure the security, robustness, and scalability of state-of-the-art AI models and integrate them with our main product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems for AI-powered applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend and mobile engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers, to translate business requirements into innovative solutions.
  • Design and develop software components and APIs for SumUp AI Bot.
  • Deploy AI models into production environments, ensuring stability, reliability, and security.
  • Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD).
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of deployed models, iterating on improvements.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Expert programming with Python, building APIs, and architecting microservices.
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-native tools or 3rd-party tools for status monitoring and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Honeycomb, Grafana, etc.).
  • Expert with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), relational databases, and deploying AI models on cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work effectively in diverse and agile environments.
  • Proven mentorship experience, guiding and developing other team members.
