About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Logistics Manager to join our Central Europe Cluster Team at Hitachi Energy Germany AG.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for transport cost evaluations in our tender projects and ensuring safe and compliant end-to-end transportation planning and execution in our execution projects.

You will manage transportation activities, including heavy lift and project cargo, in close cooperation with the Project and Supply Chain Teams in the countries, and manage a small logistics team in Germany.

The position will be located in Mannheim, Germany.

Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with project management teams and freight companies, brokers, and customs authorities to ensure smooth transportation operations.
  • Initiate and maintain communication with Project Management and Sales to understand transportation needs.
  • Support tender projects by providing transportation/logistics costs and participating in site surveys if required.
  • Issue contracts with freight shipping providers and develop project shipping plans to achieve the best conditions.
  • Execute transport contracts for the cluster countries.
  • Manage and follow shipping progress and clearance procedures to ensure minimum lead time.
  • Represent the Transport and Logistics function in project kick-offs and subsequent project meetings.
  • Travel to construction sites or loading sites to supervise loading/unloading activities if necessary.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project logistics, project freight management, or heavy lift transportation and customs.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in German and English language skills to negotiate with suppliers and form contracts.
  • Advanced IT skills, including MS Office applications and SAP.
  • Willingness to travel within the Central Europe Cluster.
