Embedded Software Developer for Advanced Electronics

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Developer to join our team at DESY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing firmware for complex electronic modules focused on digital signal processing and high-speed control and feedback systems using VHDL and C/C++.
You will work on creating firmware for operating advanced electronics based on Xilinx Kintex 7, Zynq SoC and MPSoC, UltraScale+, FPGAs, and RFSoCs. Additionally, you will design and implement feedback control systems and algorithms, integrate firmware and software systems as part of the LISA project for gravitational wave detection, and maintain and enhance the MSK firmware framework.
As a successful candidate, you will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field, with several years of experience in designing and developing VHDL programs. You will also have proven experience with Xilinx FPGA and SoC technology, including hands-on work with Vivado, HLS and Vitis. Knowledge of Yocto (Petalinux) and Modelsim is a plus.

About You:- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field or equivalent expertise, skills and experience
- Several years of experience in designing and developing VHDL programs
- Proven experience with Xilinx FPGA and SoC technology, including hands-on work with Vivado, HLS and Vitis
- Knowledge of Yocto (Petalinux) and Modelsim is a plus
- Expertise in developing high-speed IO interfaces
- Experience with MicroTCA crate architecture is a plus
- Good knowledge of digital signal processing and digital control systems
- Excellent team collaboration skills
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken
