Your Mission

As a seasoned professional, you will take on the role of Team Lead Platform Engineering at Intershop Communications AG. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the setup, operation, and further development of our Intershop Commerce Platform infrastructure.

You will lead a highly motivated and tech-savvy team that provides the foundation for the development and operation of our products. Your expertise will ensure that our platforms are scalable, secure, and performant, and you will work closely with the development and operations teams.

  • Technical management: Management and development of the platform engineering team, including coaching and mentoring.
  • Architecture & Design: Design and further development of cloud and container-based platform architecture (Azure, Kubernetes, monitoring, ...).
  • Automation & standardisation: Promotion and implementation of automation solutions such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines. Development of self-service functionalities for customers and partners.
  • Responsibility for centralised tool landscape: Integration, further development, and maintenance of cross-platform tools such as ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, New Relic, Test-Platform (automated surface tests, performance and load tests).
  • Collaboration with stakeholders: Close coordination with the DevOps, development, and IT security teams as well as other stakeholders to further develop the platform as needed.
  • Security management: Implementation and enforcement of security policies and compliance requirements within the platform.
  • Budget and resource planning: Management of the platform budget, resource planning, and cost optimisation in the cloud.
Your Profile
  • Technical expertise: Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Leadership and management experience: Proven experience in leading technical teams, ideally in platform engineering, operations, or cloud architecture.
  • CI/CD knowledge: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or comparable technologies.
  • Security Expertise: Extensive knowledge of security architectures, especially in cloud environments, and experience implementing security and compliance policies.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate technical issues with both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem solving skills: Analytical thinking and ability to solve complex platform infrastructure challenges.
  • Agile mindset: Experience with agile working methods (Kanban) and implementing DevOps practices.
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
