Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quotations, perform engineering phase tasks, conduct performance and customer acceptance tests, and support system commissioning phases worldwide.
  • Perform protection coordination studies of HVDC systems using EMTDC/PSCAD, determine DC protection settings, and prepare study reports.
  • Program software for DC protection and measurement systems in MATLAB/SIMULINK and CFC on the SIMATIC TDC multiprocessor automation system and PLUSCONTROL platform.
  • Conduct functional and performance testing using Model-Based-Testing (MBT) in SIMULINK and Hardware in the Loop (HiL) with Real-Time Simulation Systems (RTDS).
  • Train customers, perform acceptance tests, and submit lessons learned for improvement as the central contact person for your project as a protection engineer.
  • Support research and development topics for HVDC projects and serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and after-sales services.

Required Skills

  • University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study; a PhD in protection technology is advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK, ideally with real-time and embedded software.
  • Solid knowledge in modeling and simulation studies using industrial power system programs like PSCAD/EMTDC.
  • Ideal knowledge in Hardware in Loop (HiL).
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for result-oriented and creative project development, focusing on high-quality execution of solutions.
