Software Modernization Engineer for Laboratory Instrumentation

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled working student to join our R&D division as a Software Modernization Engineer for Laboratory Instrumentation.

About the Role:

This exciting project involves modernizing our control and data processing software for laboratory instrumentation, written in the legacy programming environment TestPoint. The goal is to convert the existing software into a modern programming language such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW, to improve its functionality, maintainability, and compatibility with current technologies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming a critical system used for advanced research and experimentation. As a member of our interdisciplinary R&D team, you will work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the growth of our company.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement modern software solutions for laboratory instrumentation
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals to design and test software systems
  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW, and experience with other languages (e.g., C++, Java)
  • Experience in software development, debugging, and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Keen interest in IT, robotics, instrumentation, mechatronics, and AI
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail
  • Able to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary R&D team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, and able to communicate with the team in German
