Experienced Nanny for German and English Speaking Family

Job Description

We are a British/German family seeking a reliable and experienced nanny to care for our four children, aged 0-7. Both parents have demanding careers in the software industry, and we require someone who can establish a routine and provide a nurturing environment for our children.

Family Details

  • The entire family is bilingual, speaking both German and English.
  • The family has a spacious one-bedroom apartment near their home, which the nanny can use or receive a higher salary to find their own accommodation.
  • A car can be provided for the nanny's use, and public transportation or biking is also an option.

Nanny Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a nanny for families with demanding careers.
  • Native-level German speaker and fluent English speaker.
  • EU citizenship or ability to obtain a Germany work visa.
  • Fully up-to-date DBS check or local equivalent.
  • Organised, structured, and able to establish a routine with children.
  • Focus on supporting kindness, respect, and good manners in children.
  • Academic ability sufficient for supporting older children with reading and homework up to around age 14.
  • Familiarity with basic technology such as Whatsapp, Google Calendar, and school apps.

Role Responsibilities

  • Full nursery duties for the twins (born May 2024) daily, Monday to Friday, 8:30-6pm.
  • School pick-up and after-school care for the older children (born May 2017 and May 2019) Monday to Friday, 3-6pm.
  • Some care for older children during school holidays and when they are home sick from school.
  • Help with ensuring older children complete homework after they return from school.
  • Prepare healthy meals for the twins and older children.
  • Unpack and manage older children's school bags when they return from school each day.
  • Support and uphold family rules around screen time.
  • Supervise shower/bath time for the older children.
  • Take older children to after-school clubs and activities as needed.
  • Wash, fold, and organise children's clothes.
  • Ensure children keep their toys tidy and organised.

Requirements

  • Completely fluent German.
  • Up-to-date criminal history check.
  • Good references for recent and relevant nanny work.
  • Able to run after young children.
  • Be available long-term.
  • Excellent British English.
  • Up-to-date paediatric first aid.
  • Tidy and clean, with a willingness to keep the home environment tidy and clean.
