Overview
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is recognized as one of the premier institutions globally, dedicated to excellence in research and education. The Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP) serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research, merging the fields of advanced materials, sustainable energy systems, and innovative manufacturing processes. Additive manufacturing is a crucial technology within this framework.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled researcher in the domain of Materials for Additive Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work autonomously, cultivate industrial partnerships, and contribute innovatively to collaborative research teams.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, Material Science, Physics, or related disciplines.
- A solid background in metal additive manufacturing techniques is essential.
- Significant professional experience in the industry is highly desirable.
- Previous post-doctoral experience is advantageous.
- Strong determination, independent work ethic, and excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficiency in both German and English is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing a collaborative AM alliance between TUM and industry as part of a dynamic team.
- Conducting independent research focused on innovation and application in additive manufacturing, including the development and adaptation of AM technologies for specific industrial applications, fostering partnerships with industry stakeholders, leading prototyping initiatives, and ensuring effective knowledge transfer through documentation and publications.
- Potential to lead a research group comprising several doctoral candidates.
- Successfully securing external funding, particularly in collaboration with governmental bodies, industry, and funding organizations.
- Delivering lectures and courses related to additive manufacturing.
- Engaging with industry networks, academic collaborators, and policymakers.
