Researcher Position in Reinforcement Learning-Based Control Concepts for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines

Robert Bosch GmbH is seeking a highly motivated researcher to contribute to the development of reinforcement learning-based control concepts for permanent magnet synchronous machines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and control theory, with experience in MATLAB/Simulink and Python. Knowledge of electrical machines is a plus.

The researcher will be responsible for developing reinforcement learning-based tracking controller concepts for permanent magnet synchronous machines with offset-free tracking, evaluating the developed controller concepts in simulation in comparison to state-of-the-art controllers, and benchmarking the developed concepts at the test bench (optional).

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Cybernetics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a comparable field. Autonomous, systematic working practice, and analytic thinking are essential for this role.

The researcher will be part of a dynamic team at Robert Bosch GmbH and will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop reinforcement learning-based tracking controller concepts for permanent magnet synchronous machines with offset-free tracking
  • Evaluate the developed controller concepts in simulation in comparison to state-of-the-art controllers
  • Benchmark the developed concepts at the test bench (optional)

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Cybernetics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a comparable field
  • Strong background in machine learning and control theory
  • Experience in MATLAB/Simulink and Python
  • Knowledge of electrical machines is a plus
  • Autonomous, systematic working practice, and analytic thinking
  • Good in German or English

Additional Information:

The researcher will be employed for 6 months. The requirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university. Please attach your CV, transcript of records, examination regulations, and if indicated a valid work and residence permit.
