Sustainable Finance Advisor

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union have commissioned the project "Sustainable Economic Transformation & Sustainable Finance" to support emerging and developing countries in transforming their economic and financial systems. As a Sustainable Finance Advisor, you will be part of this project and contribute to the development of sustainable financial systems in partner countries.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement project activities in partner countries, including Brazil, India, Mexico, Peru, Rwanda, and Senegal.
- Provide technical and strategic advice to local partner institutions to strengthen the integration of sustainability into their strategy, governance, processes, and business practices.
- Develop knowledge products and training materials for public and private audiences to raise awareness and capacity on sustainable finance frameworks and effective implementation.
- Manage project activities, including budget planning and monitoring, drafting terms of reference, stakeholder coordination, management of contractors, quality assurance, and impact reporting.
- Build a strong professional network with internal and external partners at the national, European, and international levels.
- Represent GIZ as a sustainable finance expert in international conferences and workshops.
- Contribute to the project's strategy, operational planning, impact monitoring, and the initiation of new projects and acquisition of project funds.
- Support the project's public relations work via internal and external channels.
- University degree in economics, finance, or a comparable field.
- Several years of work experience in the commercial financial sector, financial market regulation and supervision, or academia on financial market regulation and supervision.
- Several years of work experience in the field of sustainable finance, particularly on financing of sustainable projects, management of sustainability risks, sustainability reporting, transition planning, and financial market regulation to promote sustainability in the financial system.
- Experience in advising and delivering training to central banks, financial regulators, and supervisory authorities.
- Sound knowledge of development cooperation and international good practices in the field of sustainable finance.
- Excellent command of the English language; proficiency in German and further languages at a professional level (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic) is considered an asset.
This job is suited to a full or part-time position. The willingness for frequent business trips is required. In order to fulfill the company's objectives, the willingness of employees for assignments at all GIZ locations in Germany and abroad is of high corporate interest.
