Final Thesis Development and Implementation of Media Tightness Tests

In collaboration with the Chair of Laser Technology LLT at RWTH Aachen University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT offers a thesis opportunity on the development and implementation of media tightness tests for laser-welded hybrid joints made of metal and plastic.
Project OverviewHybrid components combining metal and plastic are becoming increasingly important in lightweight construction applications. To ensure a media-tight bond between metal and plastic, we need to develop and implement effective media tightness tests. As part of this project, you will design and construct a small housing for clamping test specimens, conduct a series of tests with different materials and laser parameters, and evaluate the samples regarding media density.
Requirements- Studying mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, or physics in your bachelor or master
- Interest in technical problems in application-oriented research
- Responsible, independent, and structured way of working, with high motivation
- Initial experience in design and laser systems is desirable, but not a prerequisite
- Practice-oriented thesis in an innovative working environment
