Role Description

We are seeking an Industry Analyst Commodity Trading to join our team at the Boston Consulting Group. As a key member of our Energy Practice Area, you will drive fundamental change for energy companies to succeed globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert support to our teams and clients in the commodity trading industry, covering market trends, technology implications, solution assessment, and benchmarking.
  • Design, define, and implement new-build and custom-off-the-shelf trading solutions, including CTRM/ETRM, portfolio management, market access, market data, forecasting, scheduling, and logistics solutions.
  • Proactively progress our internal knowledge development by creating training material for our consulting staff and providing our own trading platforms for training and showcasing innovative solutions to clients.
  • Enhance delivery quality by providing guidance on methodological approaches and ensuring adherence to industry best practices to delivery teams based on deep solution expertise and experience in the energy industry.
  • Drive the evolution of our energy platforms, tech capabilities, and service offerings in trading to create new opportunities for our energy clients worldwide.

Requirements:

  • Above-average completion of a degree in computer science, (business) informatics, mathematics, physics, business administration, or a related relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the implementation of commodity trading solutions, preferably working for a solution provider, consulting company, or industry player.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, such as being part of a scrum team.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge in the design, implementation, and configuration of industry-leading solutions in the utilities and energy trading domain, e.g., ETRM systems such as Endur, Allegro Horizon, RightAngle, Deltix, or Beacon.
  • Experience with trading systems landscapes, including core systems, interfaces, and recent developments in data landscapes and analytics.
  • A well-developed analytical and conceptual skillset, as well as a strong value-oriented can-do mentality.
  • Fluency in English and German (written and spoken).
  • Team spirit, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a team towards a common goal.
