CVE Sourcing Engineer

The Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) division is pivotal in enhancing cost visibility and efficiency for procured materials, components, and systems within the Siemens Energy product range. As a CVE Procurement Engineer, you will spearhead various initiatives aimed at generating cost-reduction strategies, engaging with suppliers, and ensuring the effective implementation of these strategies with external stakeholders. You will also play a crucial role in representing Siemens Energy Procurement in the innovation of new products and the exploration of emerging markets, collaborating closely with R&D Project Managers to meet project objectives. Your efforts will be essential in advancing Siemens Energy's hydrogen initiatives and supporting the broader energy transition.
Your Contributions
- Serve as the primary liaison for CVE and Procurement concerning electrolyzer auxiliaries and systems (including compressors, transformers, rectifiers, and packaging).
- Formulate and execute impactful cost-reduction strategies in tight collaboration with cross-functional teams (such as R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Bid Management).
- Engage actively with Marketing, Sales, and Project Procurement during the proposal phase for new or enhanced product offerings.
- Represent Procurement in key R&D initiatives to create competitive products aligned with market demands and promote standardization and automation.
- Act as a technical advisor for Procurement to devise and implement effective sourcing strategies across various material categories.
- Utilize supplier expertise and innovation capabilities, conducting technology scouting in partnership with Procurement and R&D.
- Facilitate the market launch of new products by involving Procurement early and establishing strategic partnerships with suppliers in new applications and service sectors.
- Incorporate a broad network of specialists from other procurement functions into your projects (e.g., Cost Engineers, Commodity Managers, Supplier Quality Managers).
- Degree in a technical field such as electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, with a strong interest in commercial aspects.
- Extensive professional experience in the energy or industrial sectors, encompassing roles in engineering, R&D, project management, and/or supply chain.
- Preferred knowledge of technical products related to electrolyzer systems and their auxiliaries.
- Strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills, particularly in interactions with internal clients and senior leadership.
- Adept at facilitating discussions and workshops to unite internal and external experts towards common goals.
- Inquisitive, proactive, quick to learn, and results-oriented, with excellent prioritization abilities.
- Fluency in English and German.
