We are seeking a highly motivated and independent researcher to join our team at the Leibniz Institute of Virology. The successful candidate will work on a PhD project in the Department of Viral Zoonoses - One Health, focusing on the transmission of influenza A viruses from animals to humans and the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis in humans.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on cellular and molecular mechanisms in respiratory viral infections
- Develop and implement molecular biological methods
- Work on asthma mouse models
- Collaborate with national and international colleagues
- Present research findings at meetings
- A master's degree or equivalent qualification in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular life sciences or a related subject)
- Previous experiences in virology, immunology, molecular and cell biology
- Commitment, team spirit and good communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and ability to plan and execute experiments independently and flexibly
- Very good spoken and written English
- Practical experiences in animal models would be an asset
- Exciting activity at an institute of the Leibniz Association
- Working as part of a highly motivated team in an international environment

The student will be allocated at the LIV in the Department of Viral Zoonoses - One Health with a stay of at least 3 months of the research at the cooperating institute. The position is initially limited for 3 years.
