We are currently seeking 5-6 Data Science Student Interns (m/f/d) for our Trading Analysis & Algorithms division located in Hamburg.
The Trading Analysis & Algorithms division within the Business Unit (BU) Trading collaborates closely with trading teams, playing a pivotal role in delivering market insights, both fundamental and quantitative analysis, and providing commercial decision-making support across various commodity sectors. Within this division, the Algorithmic Trading team works in tandem with other trading units and the Algo Infrastructure team, leading efforts in algorithmic trading and automated trade execution across the BU Trading spectrum, from intraday to long-term strategies.
Your Key Responsibilities as a Data Science Student Intern:
- Assist energy traders and trading analysts in identifying, evaluating, and integrating new information sources and feeds for market or fundamental data, including the development of web scrapers and data quality monitoring tools.
- Enhance and automate processes, routines, and applications related to data analysis and information flows.
- Create visual representations of data and analyses through dashboards.
- Advance fundamental and mathematical market modeling, including the application of machine learning techniques.
- Conduct commercially relevant quantitative analyses utilizing advanced analytical methods.
- Address programming challenges effectively.
- Contribute to the output of the Trading Analysis & Algorithms division.
Your Profile
We are looking for a Data Science Student Intern who:
- Is currently enrolled in a university program in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, or natural sciences, with at least one year remaining in their studies and a preference for working primarily from our office (occasional remote work is possible).
- Possesses strong programming skills (especially in Python), along with solid statistical and analytical capabilities.
- Is capable of managing large, complex datasets in various formats.
- Has knowledge of energy markets, which is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Demonstrates proficiency in English (both written and spoken); German language skills are a plus but not required.
- Exhibits strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with various internal stakeholders and a willingness to share knowledge.
- Is result-oriented, independent, and structured in their work approach, showing high reliability and a readiness to take on responsibilities.
- Is a proactive team player with a strong desire to learn.
