Join our team as a Senior Engineer for Embedded Solutions (m/f/d) focused on Cabin Safety, where your contributions will make a significant impact.

As we strive to realize the vision of autonomous mobility services, we are establishing the Vehicle Integration domain with innovative product development teams. These teams are tasked with creating applications and tools essential for managing passenger experiences in our vehicles, even in a driverless environment. Key challenges include: How do passengers authenticate themselves in a driverless vehicle? How do we ensure a secure cabin during boarding and throughout the journey? What information should be displayed on vehicle screens to enhance passenger safety and experience?

The Cabin Safety team is responsible for the comprehensive integration of features that ensure a secure journey for our customers. We concentrate on critical moments such as boarding and continuously monitor operations to detect minor issues or hazardous situations. Our approach utilizes a multi-sensor layer to execute our functions effectively, even in complex environments.

Our team comprises various roles, including backend and embedded developers, quality assurance specialists, functional safety experts, and product owners. We invite you to join us if you are eager to tackle challenges in a dynamic and customer-focused setting.

Work Location

We offer positions in a hybrid working model, allowing for flexibility in your work environment. If you reside in Germany and prefer not to relocate, you can still be part of our team by visiting our office once a month.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate camera-based solutions for cabin surveillance.
  • Continuously enhance these solutions in alignment with our business objectives.
  • Plan and conduct tests to evaluate functionality and performance.
  • Construct systems adhering to industry standards for safety, security, and quality management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and partners on camera-based monitoring solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance in embedded engineering and mentor colleagues in your area of expertise.
  • Engage in the entire development lifecycle, from design to implementation, quality assurance, and maintenance.
  • Work within a self-managed, autonomous, cross-functional team alongside other skilled engineers.

Qualifications for Success

  • Strong expertise in video processing algorithms on embedded platforms and machine/deep learning algorithms.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, implementation, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience in industries with high reliability and quality requirements, such as automotive, medical, or aerospace.
  • Proficient in designing technical solutions based on abstract business scenarios.
  • Experience in assessing the performance of machine/deep learning algorithms.
  • Familiarity with C++ 11/14 or later, with additional knowledge of Python being advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with video streaming technologies/frameworks like gstreamer.
  • Experience with the Linux platform as both a user and developer on multicore ARM-based SoCs.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as RTSP, MQTT, and SOME/IP.
  • Familiarity with SiL and HiL testing integrated into CI/CD.
  • Previous experience with ROS/ROS2 or AUTOSAR is a plus.
