We are looking for a Student Worker to join our NCE Regional Engineering & Technology (RE&T) team. In this role, you will evaluate site-specific climatic conditions to enhance wind farm efficiency, investigate flow and turbine interaction models to assess site suitability, and contribute significantly to the optimization of wind farm projects across Northern & Central Europe.

The Regional Engineering & Technology NCE team represents the Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) organization within the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit for Northern & Central Europe (NCE). This includes several countries with installed capacity across a wide range of Sustainable Energy Solutions, focusing primarily on On- & Offshore wind. Our key responsibilities include technical contracting, value engineering, customization and execution, product integrity, regional product market requirement management, and lifecycle engineering.
In RE&T NCE, we aim to:

Grasp customer requirements: We ensure that technical bid requirements and project-specific limitations are well understood, ensuring compliance with country-specific standards and tracking the interests of key project stakeholders. Enhance project outcomes: We optimize performance and cost variables for both Onshore and Offshore projects to maximize value for all stakeholders, utilizing global practices, processes, and tools from the Tech Sales, Siting & Power Plant Solutions communities. Address technical challenges: We evaluate potential technical issues and ensure that all assessments align with our procedural framework, guiding the technical aspects of projects for efficient execution. Bridge R&D with market needs: We provide feedback to central R&D regarding techno-commercial market and competitiveness requirements to shape Vestas' future product portfolio for the region and inform the development of frontline tools and processes.

As part of the RE&T NCE, the Siting Solutions team conducts analyses of site climatic conditions throughout the wind farm value chain, optimizing configurations, layouts, and operational settings to ensure site suitability and performance, ultimately delivering the best possible LCoE for our clients.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Functional Lead of Siting Solutions in NCE, your responsibilities will encompass various multi-disciplinary tasks supporting the NCE Siting Community, including:

Analyzing climatic conditions across diverse sites Investigating flow and turbine interaction models on various locations Actively participating in wind farm projects during the sales phase Assisting Siting Engineers with a data science research project Performing various supportive tasks

Qualifications
You are pursuing a Master's degree in engineering, preferably in renewable energy, wind energy, aerodynamics, meteorology, or physics.
Additionally, you possess:

A solid theoretical foundation in wind turbine design, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and wind measurement campaigns Practical experience with windPRo, WAsP, and a CFD solver (such as Ellipses 3D, OpenFoam, WindSim) A basic understanding of the Python programming language Proficiency in both verbal and written English
