Position: Automated Greenhouse Expert - Automation (all genders)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the execution of research projects, encompassing planning, application, evaluation, and data analysis.
  • Act as a technical authority for the automated greenhouse operations, including troubleshooting and maintenance scheduling.
  • Provide practical support throughout all stages of greenhouse and phenotyping automation, from concept development to deployment and ongoing maintenance of automated systems.
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure successful operation and continuous enhancement of greenhouse automation.
  • Contribute technical expertise and knowledge transfer within the research team to facilitate smooth operations of the automated greenhouse.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in plant science, mechanical engineering, or related technical fields with a biological focus, preferably at the Master's level or a Bachelor's degree complemented by technical training.
  • Extensive knowledge in plant physiology, automation processes (specifically greenhouse automation), sensor technology applications, phenotyping, and image analysis is highly advantageous, along with experience in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in greenhouse settings with a strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities in automation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with scientific data analysis software, with a capacity to quickly adapt to new tools and programs.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, robust problem-solving abilities, and effective implementation of operational strategies with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and complex research environment, demonstrating high self-motivation, personal accountability, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing stakeholder relationships in a collaborative work atmosphere.
  • Willingness to occasionally work weekends to maintain automation processes.
  • Fluency in German, both written and spoken, complemented by good English proficiency.
