Library Services Associate

Key Responsibilities

The Library Assistant will undertake various duties including:
- Managing circulation and registration desk operations.
- Registering new patrons and providing guidance on library policies and procedures.
- Assisting visitors in finding and selecting reading materials.
- Processing library loans and maintaining records of overdue items.
- Aiding patrons in utilizing the online public access catalog.
- Organizing library materials and ensuring shelves are orderly.
- Responding to written requests for specific publications and sourcing materials.
- Identifying and reporting cataloging errors or materials needing repair.
- Preparing library resources in accordance with established procedures.
- Overseeing new acquisitions and managing circulation processes.
- Coordinating summer reading initiatives and storytelling sessions.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

C-4:
E&T Level I: Requires 1 year of general experience in clerical work, including office tasks, computer usage, bookkeeping, inventory management, event coordination, or cashier duties.

Current employees lacking E&T Level I must possess 2 years of relevant experience.

E&T Level II and above: No further experience is necessary.

Internal candidates in similar roles may qualify for advancement after one year in their current position.

• Proficiency in office automation is essential.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
Fluency in English and German at C1 level is required.

• This is a temporary full-time role (38.5 hours/week) until the return of the permanent incumbent.

• Weekend work is mandatory.

• The employee must be capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
