Sustainability Engagement Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Engagement Specialist to join our team at CDP - Europe. As a key member of our engagement team, you will play a critical role in driving companies and governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources, and protect forests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage directly with European companies, particularly in France and the Benelux region, to motivate them to respond to CDP's questionnaires and support their environmental management, reporting, and membership commitments.
  • Support companies in meeting their key disclosure and scoring requirements for CDP's climate change, water security, and forest programs, ensuring high disclosure rates across all programs.
  • Engage companies to participate in CDP's key ambition initiatives, such as the Science-Based Targets initiative and RE100.
  • Generate leads for our membership programs, including Supply Chain and Reporter Services.
  • Contribute to and co-organize technical events in the region, including workshops and webinars, and provide input for CDP Europe's annual European Award Ceremony.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in specific sectors or environmental areas, coordinate CDP Europe reports, and oversee the production of engagement materials.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum BA/BSc degree or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of prior work experience in corporate sustainability, preferably in a CSR department, environmental consultancy, NGO, or similar.
  • Excellent English skills (C1 level or higher) and French proficiency is a strong asset.
  • Strong interest in corporate sustainability themes and related company challenges; knowledge of water security, forests, and/or biodiversity matters is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact convincingly with people at different levels of seniority and from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and work calmly under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a love for data and information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
