Harness Design Engineer

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive wiring systems for a range of technology projects, encompassing advanced, product, and serial development initiatives, as well as customer-specific series projects.
  • Conduct thorough analyses and updates of system and domain requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
  • Initiate, perform, and support the creation of 2D, 3D, and schematic designs for wiring systems, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and customer requirements.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, providing valuable insights and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine designs.
  • Define validation plans and meticulously evaluate test results, ensuring the functionality and reliability of developed wiring systems.
  • Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) documents, detailing all components required for the assembly of wiring harnesses.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of wiring harness technologies and related production processes, staying abreast of industry advancements and emerging trends.
  • Leverage relevant methods and tools, such as FME and DFM (Design for Manufacturing), to optimize design efficiency and manufacturability.
  • Evaluate product change requests and propose innovative solutions that meet evolving customer needs and market demands.
  • Lead and support the build-up of sample prototypes, defining technical requirements and collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Conduct thorough Design2Cost (D2C) and Design2Manufacture (D2M) analyses, optimizing designs for cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
  • Actively participate in Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives, contributing to the continuous improvement of product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Act as a resident engineer when required, providing technical expertise and support to customers and internal teams.
  • Lead pre-RFQ concept projects for customers, conducting technical feasibility studies and developing comprehensive technical concepts for proposed solutions.
  • Perform design release engineering tasks, ensuring that designs meet all relevant standards and specifications.
  • Meticulously check and evaluate customer requirements and specifications, providing clear and concise feedback to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Share specialized knowledge and expertise with customers, building strong relationships and fostering collaborative partnerships.
  • Provide technical support for various departments within the company, including CSO (Customer Service Organization) and COO (Chief Operating Officer), contributing to overall operational excellence.
  • Integrate results from customer sample verification activities, ensuring that feedback is incorporated into subsequent design iterations.
  • Maintain regular communication with customer engineering departments and supplier engineering teams, fostering strong collaborative relationships.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in harness design engineering.
  • Advanced English language proficiency (80% or higher).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and product design software.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
