About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Engineer to join our team at SLM Solutions. As a Patent Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of additive manufacturing by developing and implementing innovative patent strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of cutting-edge technologies and emerging trends in additive manufacturing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inventive potential and develop patent strategies
  • Provide guidance to internal inventors on patent drafting and prosecution
  • Work with external patent attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications
  • Conduct patent searches and analysis to ensure freedom to operate and patentability
  • Participate in competitor patenting monitoring and follow-up activities
  • Develop and deliver internal training programs on patent-related topics

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a technical, scientific, or economic field with additional qualification as a patent engineer
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in technology products
  • Experience with IP administration systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Business fluent communication skills in German and English
