This role is integral to Novanta's Cambridge Technology division, which specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of cutting-edge laser beam steering solutions. Our offerings include galvanometer and polygon optical scanning components, various scan heads, and associated control hardware and software. We collaborate closely with OEM partners to deliver innovative scanning solutions that enhance industrial processes, electronics, and laser-based medical applications. As pioneers in galvanometer-based optical scanning technology, we are committed to driving advancements in photonics through collaboration, quality, and exceptional customer service.
Role Overview
The primary focus of this position is to maintain and enhance our global leadership in the precision and performance of our galvanometer-based scanning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
· Utilize, maintain, and enhance the existing software suite (MATLAB, C, Python)
· Generate engineering and verification documentation for related projects
· Analyze, interpret, and assess internal and external requirements for application-specific control systems
Required Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
· Preferred background in Electrical Engineering or related fields
· Proficient in technical English (both written and spoken); knowledge of German is a plus
· Strong familiarity with MATLAB and prior experience in its application
· Experience with Python programming
· Basic understanding of the C programming language
· Hands-on experience with digital control systems is preferred
· Fundamental knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis/Design is advantageous
· Experience in the field of Lasers/Optics is preferred
· Familiarity with Galvanometer technology is beneficial

· Minimal travel required, primarily to customer locations and/or other company facilities.
