For our European Headquarters, we are seeking a skilled IT professional for the role of:

Database and Middleware Systems Specialist (f/m/d)

As a Database and Middleware Specialist (f/m/d), you will be an integral part of the Digital Infrastructure Department, overseeing the management of Database and WebSphere Application Server systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administration, operation, and maintenance of RDBMS for diverse systems, including MsSQL (primary), Oracle, Postgres, MariaDB, and Tibero.
  • Providing support for associated web and application servers.
  • Installing and configuring software as necessary.
  • Planning and executing upgrades and expansions of existing systems.
  • Proactively managing and upholding security standards and controls.
  • Applying essential updates to maintain system integrity.
  • Actively pursuing optimization and simplification of our architecture.
  • Handling daily operations related to our application systems.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving related issues.
  • Collaborating closely with infrastructure, security, application, and development teams for troubleshooting.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that SLAs and operational KPIs are met, collaborating with internal and external support functions during major incidents.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
  • Over 10 years of experience in database server administration, particularly with MsSQL, alongside relevant experience with Oracle, MariaDB, and Postgres.
  • Experience should encompass capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, backup and recovery, schema management, report generation, and DB clustering technologies.
  • Strong practical experience in operating production database systems.
  • Willingness to broaden expertise to additional technologies.
  • International work experience with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive mindset, problem-solving abilities, and a goal-oriented approach.
  • High level of professionalism, responsibility, and quality awareness.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of ITIL.
  • Experience in supporting web and application servers (IIS, Apache/Tomcat, OracleHTTP/Weblogic, Jeus/Webtob).
