Research Scientist (PhD) in (Bio)Polymer Chemistry
to join our innovative research environment. This role is based in our advanced R&D Innovation Center in Germany.
Our Pharma Solutions division is dedicated to producing and marketing high-performance cellulose derivatives, alginates, and related polymers that serve a wide range of applications in the Pharmaceuticals, Food, Industrial Specialties, and Personal Care sectors. This segment has demonstrated significant profitability and growth in recent years. The mission of the R&D Polymer Synthesis & Modification team is to drive growth in the Pharma sector by creating and commercializing novel products that address unmet market demands through a deep understanding of structure-property relationships.
As a Research Scientist, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the structure-property dynamics of (bio)polymers for (bio)pharmaceutical applications. You will leverage this expertise to innovate new products, collaborating closely with specialists from research, analytical, application development, and market-facing teams in a diverse, cross-functional, and international setting. A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in polysaccharide research and a solid foundation in analytical chemistry. Exceptional teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities, are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish connections between end-use performance requirements and polymer structures.
- Maintain thorough documentation of research activities, technical insights, and scientific findings through reports, publications, and Invention Disclosures, while managing research projects effectively.
- Collaborate with Marketing teams to define, develop, and launch new products.
- Engage with the Marketing team to gain insights into market demands and performance expectations.
- Work in tandem with central research groups to establish material characterization methods and identify critical molecular parameters influencing end-use performance.
Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in Organic or Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
- Proven experience in polysaccharide research.
- Familiarity with analytical characterization techniques.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
