Laboratory Technician for Cancer Genomics and Biobanking

- DKTK Partner Site – DKTK Biobank and Central Molecular Diagnostics at a leading university hospital
This role encompasses responsibilities within the University Center for Tumor Diseases (UCT), which is part of the DKTK site. The UCT is located within the facilities of a university hospital and aims to facilitate research using patient materials and treatment data.
The second aspect of this position is focused on Central Molecular Diagnostics (Cancer Genomics), closely linked to the molecular genetics of the Hematology-Oncology Specialized Laboratory.
- Sample reception and registration for storage in the DKTK / UCT Biobank and for the diagnostic sector
- Sample preparation and storage
- Isolation of gDNA and ctDNA from serum samples, isolation of mononuclear cells from blood and bone marrow (including FICOLL gradient, cell counting, and preservation), preparation for sequencing (NGS)
- Execution of complex multi-step hematological and molecular biological analyses (molecular genetics, DNA/RNA extraction from blood, bone marrow, tissue, cDNA synthesis, quantitative and qualitative PCRs), gel electrophoresis, library preparation for amplicon-based next-generation sequencing (NGS), MLPA analyses, Sanger sequencing
- Documentation and preparation of sample data, maintenance of the biomaterial and database
- General laboratory management tasks such as ordering laboratory materials
- Completed vocational training as a laboratory technician, biological technician, chemical technician, or equivalent, with relevant professional experience or comparable qualifications
- Knowledge in the biochemical field
- Experience in biobanking, cell purification from blood, or biomedical research is desirable
- Ability to work safely under sterile conditions and in a laboratory environment
- Precise and careful working style with a high degree of independence and responsibility
- Excellent German and English language skills
- Outstanding communication skills
- Strong IT skills
- Proficient in handling ultra-low temperature freezers and liquid nitrogen
