Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) is a leading center of excellence for digital engineering in Germany. Our Digital Engineering Faculty, a joint initiative with the University of Potsdam, offers a unique and highly practical computer science study program that focuses on the foundations and applications of large, complex, and networked IT systems.

We are seeking two PhD students to join our research group in Potsdam. The position is fixed-term and full-time.

Your Future Tasks

  • Conduct research in networking, including network softwarization, mobile and wireless networks, and datacenter networks. Techniques may involve machine learning, stochastic optimization, simulation, or experiment-based approaches.
  • Teach digital engineering and supervise master and bachelor students.
  • Participate in group and HPI activities.

Your Skills

  • An outstanding master's degree in computer science or a related field with a strong background in networking or distributed systems.
  • Eagerness to participate in team work, flexible and independent work style, outstanding analytical competence, and good implementation and experimental skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English; German skills are necessary to fulfill teaching obligations (at least, B2).
