About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our team as a Master's Thesis Researcher in the field of two-phase flow instabilities. As a key member of our research team, you will have the opportunity to work on a challenging project that involves analyzing characteristics of two-phase flow instabilities in water bath vaporizers (WBV).

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze characteristics of two-phase flow instabilities in WBV using in-house developed numerical simulation models
  • Use numerical simulation models to solve mass, momentum, and energy balances in 1D to identify main influence parameters for equipment design
  • Conduct studies on influence parameters to derive basic guidelines for equipment design
  • Evaluate potential countermeasures based on their effectiveness and cost impact
  • Receive supervision from experts in Equipment Process Design and Computational Mechanics department
Requirements
  • Student of process engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering with very good study achievements
  • Advanced knowledge in heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Experience in numerical modeling and simulation, as well as good programming skills in Matlab, Python, C/C++, or similar
  • Knowledge in simulating multi-phase flows with heat and mass transfer using CFD (OpenFoam and/or Ansys Fluent) is beneficial
  • Interdisciplinary thinking, commitment, and ability to work independently
