Who will you collaborate with?

In this role, you will report to the Commodity Leader for Electrical Components and will engage closely with suppliers and colleagues from diverse regions, focusing on executing the Global strategy across our sites in the EMEA region.

What impact will you have?

As the Commodity Manager for Electrical Components, your primary responsibility will be to identify and implement proactive strategies for the Global Electrical Components Commodity across all Wabtec Business Units. Your efforts will concentrate on enhancing margins, generating cash flow, managing supplier relationships, developing dual sourcing strategies, migrating to low-cost country spending, overseeing cross-functional project management, and improving supplier delivery performance and service part productivity.

What qualifications are we looking for?

Experience:

  • Over 5 years of experience in Purchasing or Project Sourcing
  • Experience in a globalized matrix industrial environment

Hard Skills:

  • Expertise in Electrical Components commodity
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are advantageous)
  • Adept multi-cultural negotiator

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent and self-sufficient
  • Analytical and data-driven
  • Proactive, goal-oriented, and accountable

Expect frequent travel (approximately 30-50%).

What will your daily responsibilities entail?

Commodity Management and Supplier Relations:

  • Establish and refine strategies for the assigned commodity, including Make or Buy decisions
  • Develop technical and regional supplier market intelligence for your commodities
  • Implement strategies through panel policies for the assigned commodity
  • Build, qualify, develop, and manage the regional supplier panel for the assigned commodity, including rationalization
  • Define and execute supplier risk assessments and sourcing plans
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews
  • Establish raw material strategies

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Manage relationships with regional suppliers, serving as the primary contact
  • Oversee the selection process for new suppliers

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans for the assigned commodity
  • Monitor monthly PPI savings and drive action plans

Request for Quotation Management:

  • Manage RFQs, offer evaluations, negotiations, and contracting, including frame agreements
  • Optimize purchase order payment terms and implement supplier RPA

Project Sourcing:

  • Provide supplier vendor lists to project buyers prior to RFQs
  • Oversee contracting for new suppliers at the site
  • Contribute to final negotiations, leveraging scale effects across ongoing projects
  • Validate supplier selections from project buyers and participate in the Project Sourcing Committee

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Drive sourcing competitiveness initiatives for existing parts, collaborating with Engineering for technical savings
  • Manage re-sourcing in serial life
  • Handle contract amendments and renegotiations
  • Address major supplier issues escalated from site sourcing specialists

Location: This role can be based in any EU country where Wabtec has a presence.
