PhD Researcher in AI for Sustainability

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our Sustainability Innovation Engagement team at SAP. As a PhD researcher, you will play a key role in advancing our understanding of the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the application of AI in sustainability transformation of organizations
- Design and develop AI-based software artifacts to address sustainability challenges
- Evaluate the effectiveness of AI-based solutions in real-world contexts
- Collaborate with SAP customers and partners to co-create innovative solutions
- Publish research findings in top conferences and journals
Requirements
- PhD student or doctoral candidate in a relevant field (e.g., information systems, industrial engineering, computer science)
- Strong background in AI, machine learning, and programming languages (e.g., Python)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Fluency in English
About the Team
The Sustainability Innovation Engagement team is part of SAP's Growth Unit Sustainability, which focuses on supporting the digital sustainability transformation of SAP customers. Our team works closely with product teams and stakeholders across the internal and external value chain to orchestrate innovation.
About the Collaboration
The PhD project will be performed in collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and its human-centered systems lab (h-lab). The h-lab is a research group focused on designing human-centered systems for better work and life.
