Our Bremen facility is a hub for research, development, and production, employing approximately 500 individuals. We specialize in high-end measurement and analysis instruments, particularly mass spectrometers, utilized in scientific research globally. Our innovative offerings in Life Sciences MS, Inorganic MS, and Trace Elemental Analysis are recognized as leading products in their respective markets.
Role Overview:
We are in search of a skilled and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to enhance our dynamic Life Science R&D team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in developing mechanical components specifically for mass spectrometers. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, from initial concept through to the design phase and the creation of essential production documentation. Your contributions will be crucial in facilitating a smooth transition to series production.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
- Engage in the design and development of intricate mechanical components, including assemblies for high vacuum and ion optical systems.
- Collaborate with a diverse, motivated, and interdisciplinary team in our Bremen office.
- Participate actively in product development teams and project planning, ensuring your expertise informs decision-making.
- Prepare production documentation and testing procedures to ensure a seamless transfer to series production.
- Oversee the installation and testing of mechanical components on mass spectrometers, ensuring product quality and functionality.
- Conduct product and process cost calculations to support effective decision-making.
- Provide technical support to suppliers during their qualification processes.
- Contribute to Change Management (ECO) and Quality Control during the product commercialization phase.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in designing high-quality mechanical parts and assemblies within complex multi-component systems.
- Strong understanding of Product Development Practices, Processes, and Tools, particularly in sophisticated analytical instruments.
- Proficiency in 3-D solid modeling, with SolidWorks being preferred.
- Experience with low volume, high-value complex systems such as scientific instrumentation or medical devices.
- Solid mechanical engineering background with comprehensive knowledge of design, manufacturing processes, and materials.
- Experience in 'should cost' analysis of mechanical components and assemblies.
