Cloud Storage Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Storage Engineer to join our team at STACKIT. As a Cloud Storage Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the digital future of Europe's leading retail group and building our cutting-edge cloud and colocation business from scratch.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement highly available storage systems in block-, object-, backup- and cold-storage environments
- Develop and extend the infrastructure API to provide self-service storage functionalities via REST API
- Improve the current storage environment with new solution scenarios, including the introduction of new storage systems and development of new regions
- Ensure the surrounding system landscape of the storage environment, including self-service API, virtualization, Kubernetes, monitoring and logging
- Create and maintain professional documentation for efficient use and stable operation of the platform
- Contribute to the development of a high-performance cloud platform based on Linux and OpenStack with a focus on storage
- Experience in one or more areas of block-, object-, backup- and cold-storage, including solution scenarios, deployment, operation, scaling options, and migration
- Proficiency in developing APIs, including REST API with Python, Go, or Rust
- Experience with infrastructure as code in automated environments, including CI/CD, pipelines, and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of the challenges of operating storage systems, including protocols, troubleshooting, performance analysis, high availability, and lifecycle
- Good knowledge of automation, including Python, Bash, and Ansible
- Comfortable working in open source-based virtualization and container environments
- Passion for new technologies and topics related to various storage systems
