KG Division Grid Technologies Sector Digital Grid Full / Part-time Part-time Experience Level Entry-Level Work Arrangement: Part-time / Temporary A Glimpse into Your Day In your capacity as a Doctoral Researcher focusing on the examination of AC/DC energy frameworks, you will engage in research and development concerning cutting-edge energy generation and distribution systems. You will collaborate closely with seasoned energy system advisors within a European Horizon Project, concentrating on the computation and evaluation of contemporary AC/DC energy frameworks utilizing advanced power electronics controllers. You will actively participate in research partnerships with academic institutions and industry collaborators to devise innovative solutions to diverse technical challenges and enhance the offerings of Siemens Energy.
How You'll Contribute Independently pursue research and development of novel applications and tools for electric energy generation, distribution, and management systems Formulate mathematical models in RMS and EMT for various distribution and generation system components (e.g., HVDC, FACTS, Machines) employing relevant simulation tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, and PSCAD Design and create automation and software tools to improve the precision and effectiveness of energy system analyses Develop innovative AI and ML-driven applications and tools for the effective planning and assessment of electric energy systems and controllers Collaborate actively with internal specialists and research institutions to co-develop and co-create new solutions for emerging challenges in energy generation and distribution What You Offer Completed master's degree in electrical energy engineering with an outstanding academic record and prior research experience Strong theoretical and practical foundation in the domains of energy systems and control engineering Proficient in utilizing one or more standard energy system simulation programs (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC) and programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, Fortran) Knowledgeable in control theory, particularly in control algorithms for electric energy systems and power electronics converters Solid background in machine learning methodologies, statistics, and probability Effective communication skills in a professional context - fluent in English, proficiency in German is advantageous
