Job Title: Researcher in Space Radiobiology

GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, a leading research institution, is seeking a highly skilled Researcher in Space Radiobiology to join our team. As a key member of our Biophysics department, you will contribute to cutting-edge research in space radiobiology, working closely with international collaborators and leveraging state-of-the-art facilities.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented researcher to investigate the effects of space radiation on living organisms. Your expertise in radiobiology, combined with your passion for space research, will enable you to design and execute experiments that advance our understanding of this critical area. As a Researcher in Space Radiobiology, you will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with experts from various disciplines to drive innovation and progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement novel radiobiological methods, including rodent and organ-on-chip models, to study space radiobiology.
  • Participate in the design and execution of irradiation experiments focused on in vitro and in vivo space radiobiology research.
  • Analyze experimental datasets using statistical methods.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and the dissemination of project results.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in cell culturing and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with performing assays like PCR, IHC, and microscopic techniques.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics and omics technologies, as well as statistical methods for data analysis.
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills, with a strong ability to work in an international environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Biology, Medical Biosciences, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience in radiation experiments and a publication track record in radiation biology.
  • Experience in student supervision and histology, imaging, and behavioral assessment of lab animals (FELASA B certificate).
