Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Engineered Living Materials and Synthetic Biology. This role is part of an innovative research initiative at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials, focusing on the intersection of materials science and biological engineering.
Research Focus

Qualifications
Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field such as microbiology, molecular biology, or biomaterials. A strong background in one or more of the following areas is essential:
- (Engineered) bacterial biofilms and communities
- Synthetic gene networks in bacterial or mammalian systems
- Hydrogel-based materials serving as extracellular matrices
Experience with automated experimental designs and data-driven optimization is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, interdisciplinary thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage complex projects in collaboration with both internal and external partners.
