Mathematics Professor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty - Mathematics Instructor to join our team at Southside Virginia Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics courses to incarcerated students in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities:

• Teach Mathematics courses to incarcerated students in a correctional setting
• Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Assess student learning and provide feedback
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
• Adept knowledge of instructional technologies
• Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, internal and external constituencies
• Ability to meet college deadlines
• Must pass Virginia Department of Corrections background screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior working experience in a community college or other higher education setting
• Prior working experience in a correctional center
• Professional experience in PeopleSoft or similar student registration software program
• Prior working experience with Learning Management Systems, especially Canvas
• Professional experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software, in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a correctional setting, which may involve some travel and flexibility in scheduling.
