Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy

Vestas is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Northern Europe. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building highly advanced and compliant wind power plants.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to technical value engineering of customer renewable energy projects from the electrical side
  • Take ownership of relevant parts of technical risk assessment & mitigation during the Value Engineering/Negotiation phase
  • Collect relevant electrical data and customer/site/grid requirements for project grid integration studies
  • Review EPD study reports and evaluate for external use while supporting customers to optimize projects using the EPD study results
  • Support the Construction and commissioning phase, prepare grid compliance test protocols (plans and procedures), and support during test execution
Qualifications
  • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar position regulatory electrical requirements and grid codes
  • Knowledge of power system evaluations and studies (steady state and transient studies such as short circuit, load flow, FRT, and power quality)
  • Knowledge of power system simulation software such as DIgSILENT/PSCAD/PSSE
  • Knowledge of HV and MV equipment and power systems with a great understanding of primary and secondary systems
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and networks, PLC hardware, SCADA systems and communication interfaces would be highly beneficial
  • Project management experience within the wind industry would be advantageous
Competencies
  • Solid technical skills with a problem problem-solving attitude and root-cause failure analysis
  • High level of communication and presentation skills with both written and spoken English, additional Nordic language is beneficial
  • Highly organised and able to prioritize daily work in a fast-moving environment
  • Highly motivated and skilled at stakeholder management (customers, grid operators, conferences including product management R&D)
  • A result-oriented customer-focused individual who can work with little supervision and within an international team
