Current INTERNAL Local National Employees across Germany. This includes all current Local National staff of the U.S. Forces in Germany, encompassing U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe personnel within Germany.
AND
EXTERNAL Local National Applicants residing in Germany.
The Library Assistant is responsible for performing comprehensive circulation and registration desk duties. This includes:
- Registering new patrons and providing guidance on library policies and procedures.
- Assisting visitors in finding and selecting reading materials.
- Managing the check-out process for library items and maintaining records of overdue materials.
- Supporting patrons in utilizing the online public access catalog.
- Organizing library collections by searching shelves and rearranging materials as necessary.
- Processing written requests for publications and locating required materials, substituting editions when necessary.
- Identifying and reporting cataloging errors or items needing repair to the supervisor.
- Preparing various library materials according to established procedures.
- Overseeing the summer reading program and organizing story hours.

C-4:
E&T Level I: 1 year of general experience involving basic clerical tasks in an office or retail environment, including computer usage, bookkeeping, inventory management, telemarketing, event planning, or cashier duties.
Current employees lacking E&T Level I and not in a similar role must possess 2 years of relevant experience in clerical work.
E&T Level II and above: no additional experience required.
Internal candidates: Current employees in the same or similar occupational series with one year in their current role may qualify for a higher grade level.
• Proficiency in office automation is essential.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English AND German Language Proficiency level C1 is required.

Employment Conditions
• This is a temporary full-time position (38.5 hours/week) until the return of the permanent incumbent.
• Weekend work is mandatory.
• The employee must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs.
