Job Title: Legal Counsel, AWS EMEA

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a skilled data protection and IT lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the EMEA region, with a focus on Germany and central Europe.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, negotiating, and advising on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise customers, public sector customers, and partners.
  • Providing legal support for local and regional services and initiatives.
  • Offering ongoing legal counsel and regulatory interpretation and guidance for senior executives and other business and legal team members on product development, operational, security, compliance, data protection, and public policy matters.
  • Participating in other legal team projects, including managing legal issues in existing relationships and handling customer and business partner inquiries.
Requirements:
  • Qualified and admitted to practice law in Germany.
  • Minimum 5+ years of legal experience following qualification.
  • Previous work experience in a law firm, government, or in-house at a technology company.
  • Transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Professional fluency in English and German, written and spoken.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, IT infrastructure, and telecommunications.
  • Experience with IT transactions, including technology licensing agreements.
  • Fluency in any additional European languages.
  • Experience engaging with government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, subcontractors, and resellers.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the German public sector.

The role can be based in Amazon's offices in Munich or Berlin, with some travel required.
