Digital Life Sciences Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director Digital Life Sciences to lead our digital life sciences team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving the life science data strategy across departments and countries, developing a diverse team of computational chemists and data scientists, and driving computer-aided drug discovery, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and research informatics across the company.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive life science data strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
- Lead a team of computational chemists and data scientists to drive innovation and excellence in digital life sciences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive computer-aided drug discovery, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and research informatics initiatives.
- Oversee the research informatics infrastructure and collaborate with data science professionals and engineers to devise and implement its strategy and framework.
- Develop and nurture the vision for computational tools, generative chemistry, and approaches to support generative drug discovery.
- Work closely with clients from biotech, pharma, venture capital, and other life science enterprises to advance drug discovery projects.
- Be part of interdisciplinary research teams and interact with colleagues from medicinal chemistry, structural biology, screening, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics.
- Manage internal and external projects and stakeholders, providing input into project proposals and reports as necessary.
- Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing and engaging with the scientific community.
- PhD in life sciences, computer science, or related disciplines.
- 10+ years of experience driving projects in the digital life sciences arena.
- Experience leading a molecular modeling or research informatics group in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or related life science industry.
- Good understanding of chemistry, biology, pharmacology, and DMPK as relevant for the drug design process.
- Profound experience in a broad spectrum of computational chemistry techniques applied in drug discovery, covering structure- and ligand-based as well as ML approaches.
- Very good language skills in written and spoken English.
- Independent working attitude with excellent skills in teamwork, reliability, and flexibility.
- Track record of publications and presentations at scientific meetings, demonstrating the application of computational molecular design to drug discovery.
- Excellent presentation skills along with the ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment with strong focus and ambition.
