Software Engineering Program Overview
The software engineering program is a 14-month long program, which includes a core learning phase (Python as a main language), a role-based learning phase, an internship, and a career accelerator.
During Core learning, which takes place in the first 5 months of the program, we teach the fundamentals of programming with Python (Algorithmic thinking, Functions, Loops, Data structures, Exceptions, Testing, Files, etc). We also teach Intro to HTML+CSS, and APIs, OOP, Databases, and SQL.
Job Description
We are seeking passionate software engineers to guide students who need extra academic 1:1 help. You will be assigned a number of students you will meet regularly at fixed times every week.
In the meeting, you will go over concepts and exercises and try to develop the core algorithmic skills of the student. With every student, after an introductory meeting, you will define the plan for the next sessions and the academic goals for the student in between meetings.
You will define goals for each process and track the progress of each student, and report to their mentor and program owner.
Responsibilities
- Meet your students for regular 1:1 meetings, where you will go over basic concepts, code exercises together, set goals, and track them.
- Provide minimal a-sync support for students upon request.
- Collaborate with the program's team (Program owner and mentors) on each case and update them on each student's progress.
Requirements
- High proficiency as a Software Engineer specializing in Python.
- An abundance of patience, allows students to progress at their own pace without providing direct answers.
- A strong desire to teach, assist students in problem-solving, and support them in achieving their professional goals.
- Fluent in German and English.
- 1+ years of industry experience as a Software developer (any language).
- ~ Prior teaching or mentoring experience in a tech field.
