About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Storage Solutions Engineer to join our team at Schwarz Dienstleistung KG. As a Cloud Storage Solutions Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the digital future of Europe's leading retail group and building our cutting-edge cloud and colocation business from scratch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Storage Systems Management: You will be responsible for managing various storage systems in highly available environments, including block-, object-, backup-, and cold-storage systems.
  • Infrastructure API Development: You will continue to develop the infrastructure API, providing additional storage functionalities as self-service via REST API.
  • Storage Environment Development: You will extend and improve the current storage environment with further solution scenarios, including the introduction of new storage systems and development of new regions.
  • System Landscape Management: You will be responsible for the surrounding system landscape of the storage environment, including self-service API, virtualization, Kubernetes, monitoring, and logging.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: You will create and maintain professional documentation for efficient use and stable operation of the platform, including documentation for customers and internal teams.
  • Cloud Platform Development: You will be part of the development of a high-performance cloud platform based on Linux and OpenStack, with a focus on storage, particularly OpenStack cinder and KVM.
  • Team Collaboration: You will be part of a motivated team that strives for improvement and continuous development, both individually and collectively.
Requirements
  • Storage Expertise: You have experience and knowledge of one or more areas of block-, object-, backup-, and cold-storage, including solution scenarios, deployment, operation, scaling options, and migration.
  • API Development: You have already worked with APIs and developed them, including REST API with Python, Go, or Rust.
  • Infrastructure as Code: You have experience with infrastructure as code in automated environments, including CI/CD, pipelines, and Kubernetes.
  • Storage System Operation: You have knowledge of the challenges of self-operation of storage systems, including protocols, troubleshooting, performance analysis, high availability, and lifecycle.
  • Automation: You have good knowledge of automation, including using Python, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Virtualization and Containers: You feel comfortable in open source-based virtualization and container environments.
  • Passion for New Technologies: You bring passion and enthusiasm for new technologies and topics related to various storage systems.
