Optical Sensing Engineer for Smart Instruments

At ZEISS, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in medical imaging and sensing. We're seeking a talented student researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge microscope-integrated optical coherence tomography (OCT) devices for medical applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain hands-on experience in the development of OCT hardware and software
  • Test and evaluate concepts, core functionalities, and visualization conceptions for OCT devices
  • Collaborate with our team to develop a state-of-the-art research-grade OCT prototype
  • Research existing solutions in the scientific and patent literature and adapt them to our needs
  • Conduct and evaluate experiments based on microscope-integrated OCT imaging
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and enrollment in a master's program in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering, optics & photonics, computer science, physics, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of optics and ideally OCT principles
  • Programming skills in Python, C/C++, Matlab, or CUDA
  • First-hand experience with OCT devices and signal processing algorithms is a plus
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills (English and/or German)
  • Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies
